What is anesthesia
Anesthesiology is the practice of medicine dedicated to the relief of pain and total care of the surgical patient before, during and after surgery. The different types of anesthesia include: Monitored anesthesia care, Regional nerve blocks, Neuraxial and General. We will reach out to you the night before your procedure or speak to you the morning of to give more specific details about the anesthesia for your procedure.
Preparing for Anesthesia
As a general rule, you should have nothing to eat or drink after midnight. You can have a small sip of water to take your blood pressure medications in the morning on your procedure date.
If you take an ace inhibitor (lisinopril, enalapril, ramipril, benzapril), you should NOT take that medication on the day of surgery.
